This Canada Day weekend we went up to the property to do a little camping. It's amazing how much STUFF we felt we needed to take with us - our SUV was full and our boat was was full - yikes. I blame it on the fact that the weather was supposed to be warm, cold, dry and wet all a the same time.
We arrived Saturday afternoon and spent much of hte afternoon getting set up. We have a 222 sqft tent (a little large for just 3 people and a dog, but it gives us a lot of room to move around) and a screen tent for eating in.
The first night was a little rough. It was cold (12C), the neighbours across the lake were up late... and lets just say sound carries across water, and the new cots we purchased were not as comfy as we had hoped. But we all survived and the following nights were a lot better.
We did some cleanup of the property - piling logs, burning branches, and raking up of bark and stuff. By the time we left I think the space looked a lot cleaner and neater. Last summer there was a complete fire ban so it was nice to finally get rid of some of the brush - while we did burn a lot, it really didn't put a dint in all the piles! We have purchased a chipper - just need to get it over to the island.
The next plan for the space is to get someone in to take down a number of big old trees so we can have footings put in in 2014!

I've never been camping! I am happy to share your photos, however! My kids and grandkids are camping even as we speak!
